Pennsylvania transplant Jonathan Miller kept up his winnings ways by posting the top handicap score at the Rock January 15th, 2011. Mr. Miller is fresh off a handicap win at Buckhorn where he posted the lone 97 for the win and a yard.

Tommy Brown and Chris Shoulars knotted up for the high singles champ and Chris drug Tommy to the line for an extra 25 from the 16. Tommy started off strong with Chris falling by the wayside early. By the 3rd post it looked bad for the youngin. Then the wheel began to run off and Tommy Brown started sending them to the bank. The birds started jumpin and Tommy did also and Chris wound up the champ by 1 bird.
When we arrived at the club it was crisp and about 28 degrees. We had to break the shovels out to get fields 2-4 ready. We ran the singles BGC style and wound up having to run the caps that way also. We appreciate everybody working with us and we were done by 3PM. All in all the weather was nice with a few high clouds during the caps and some tricky light winds also.

Lunch was well received with hot vegetable soup, French bread and some great banana pudding provided by Puddin. Elmo showed up for the festivities and was a bit surprised at the crowd in the middle of January.
We had the Miller’s from Rocky Mount, Rob Mizner and Ed Waite from Camp LeJeune, Marty and George from Ft. Bragg, Ike from Buckhorn, Tom Antczak from Indiana (working in South Boston), Dean Egert from the Gastonia club, Addison and Jim from the Durham County Wildlife Club and of course our locals. We want to say THANKS to everybody that came out to play today.
Last but not least Tommy Brown led all doubles shooters with a solid 95 in the bright afternoon sunshine. He was going along only 1 bird down and had a blooper (that cleared the barrel) that cost him a pair and a 47 on his first field. Luckily his first shot reloads behaved on the second field and he mashed 48 out of 50 to end the event.
Thanks to the crew including JT, Tom, Leo, Scott, Wayne and there are others. If you are interested in learning how to run a field and score just let Tom Cox know and we will get you trained.
