Was it Tom Hanks that said “life is like a box of chocolates” you just don’t what you are going to get.. Well that sort of sums up the weather that you could get if traveling to Boone in late October for the annual “Chicken Wing Fling”. We really lucked out today with frost in the morning and warm sunshine and Carolina blue sky all day.
Folks traveled up to the event for the shooting and of course those marvelous chicken wings prepared by John Waters. They didn’t get to cook all of the wings that were purchased based on the attendance. They had beans, potato salad, cole slaw, corn on the cob and garlic bread to go with the wings.
Singles provided a little excitement with Tom Pitts running the 100 for the higun honors. Handicap found a long yarder and a skirt wearing short yarder tied up with 93’s with the skirt wearer winning by a “Tommy Brown” flip. Doubles found a Harlan Campbell student Tom Pittts at the head of his class with a solid 94 amidst squirrelly doubles targets. Long Run Sudd and Tom tied for HOA with George winning the flip.
I took a bunch of pictures this time and I hope you enjoy them. I took a lot of folks shooting handicap and doubles. Depending on your pc you should be able to see the broken targets in the field. I really need to shoot clip video of folks shooting, now that would be interesting and a good training tool.
