1PM Friday
Shooting began today at the Watauga GC around 11AM. Only two traps were used which meant Marty Hill's favorite trap the Widowmaker sat silent.
The weather is absolutely the best and is 75 degrees at 1PM. CBS - Carolina Blue Skies and minimal wind are providing some excellent conditions for good scores.
1st 100 caps
Jeff Galloway(27) and Jerry Weaver(22.5) are knotted up with 94's. Worth Miller took short with a 92, Ken Rhyne took vet with an 88. They had 14 shooters for the 1st event which didn't include George Suddreth. Tom Pitts has got Tom Shelley on the run right off the bat and leads him by three targets.
Mrs. Carolyn is serving her famous chopped BBQ lunch with her delicious chocolate cake for the sweet tooth fans.
George Ponton is on the grounds along with Larry High and others. Stay tuned for more info as soon as it becomes available.
2nd 100 caps
George Ponton was higun with a 93 amidst 14 shooters. Mid was Jerry Weaver 90, short was James Jacobs from Florida 92, vet was Bill Howe 92 and senior vet was Tom Smith 81. BamBam had a 90 just for the record!
3rd 100 caps
Jerry Weaver broke a 93 with 10 shooters participating. Doug Merkel broke 89 to take short, Bill Howe broke a 90 to take long and Tom Smith took senior vet with an 86.
4th 100 doubles - 12 shooters
George Ponton and Jeff Galloway tied for the top spot with 96's. BamBam took AA with a 95, Jeff took A with his 96, George Ponton took B with his 96, Tom Shelley took C with a 79, Doug Merkel took C with a 82 and Bill Howe took vet with a 91.
5th 100 doubles - 12 shooters
Morgan Shaw and George Ponton tied with 96's. Morg took AA with his 96, Jeff Galoway took A with his 93, George Ponton took B with his 96, Tom Shelley took C with and impressive "95", Jerry Weaver took D with his 82 and Bill Howe took vet with his 94.
The IronMan for 2008 is Jeff Galloway with 458x500 and George Ponton is the 08 runner-up with his 457x500. That is some great shooting fellows and good luck at the Grand!
DO NOT FORGET - Watauga begins the Glenn Miller shoot in the morning and it carries on into Sunday!
