August 4th Smoke Report

Top of the morning to you and I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather in the area. One shoot over the weekend to report no shoots this week in North Carolina.
Saturday started out a little wet in my area but that didn’t stop folks from spreading lead at the Buckhorn Gun Club. They had a good turnout and some of the Watauga boys rode down from the mountain. Greg Robinson won the singles with a 99, Morg Shaw got a punch to the 26 for his 91 and Shawn Reese won the doubles with a 95. Morg also won the HOA with 95+91+90=276x300.
Sunday was a little warmer but with an overcast sky and a slight breeze it made for perfect shooting conditions. Joe Nalley topped all singles shooters with a 99, relatively new shooter James Fisher got a ½ yard punch for his 96 and Mark Cox topped all doubles shooters with a 99. Mark also took the HOA with 98+92+99=290x300. That is some great shooting and Buckhorn shoots on September 28th.
The Grand American is ongoing and so far, 16 NC shooters have registered at the Sparta location. The Galloways, Isaac McCoy, Jacob Gossett, Colson Allen, The Mathis brothers, Terry Roush are there with Mark Cox, Marty Hill and Allen Davis yet to arrive. I have been checking some scores and all I know is Isaac broke a 100 in singles yesterday, 94 (won JR) in caps and a 96 is doubles. Jacob Gossett put up a 97 in doubles on Sunday. All scores are available at http://www.shootata.com There is also a rolling scoreboard that runs all day. I have a tablet that I watch the scores come in……I wish all of our NC shooters the best and we will be looking for them on the leaderboard….
John Sandell mentioned the New Hampshire state shoot that took place at the Minuteman GC in Billerica Massachusetts. He said the attendance was down due to new restrictive gun laws including no ammo sales to nonresidents and registration needed to bring a firearm into the state. He said it felt like 104 degrees on Friday of the shoot, and it reminded him of shooting in NC. One interesting fact is that they had more singles shooters in Massachusetts than we did at the NC State?
August is the last month of my prison sentence imposed by F@#%b@@k. Hopefully I will be able to keep my original account and not lose my content. I was lucky that I had Jeff James to maintain TarHeelTrap and George Suddreth to run the Kolar page. I did not have an admin to run the Konne-Yaut Indian page but luckily that will be resolved in September. As far as posting content I have mixed feelings about posting anything on that platform that will make them money. At one time they wanted to monetize my account, and I refused to do it. It has been nice not having to delete all the inappropriate and offensive content that was flooding my page. What I consider to be immoral evidently is something FB willingly promotes.
Dan Johnson has posted another story for your enjoyment. This story involves a big guy and a bee. Check it out in Tall Tales & True Stories in The Lodge. I might need to post some stories so that they can be shared. Lots of interesting adventures traveling and shooting since 2001.
That is going to do it for this week. It looks like the weather in Sparta is going to be great! Not too hot but at the end of the week the temps will be in the low 90’s. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Barron, Mark C, Mark S, Dan, John W, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
