January 10th Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

Good morning folks and I hope everyone had a good week. Still no shoot report from Buckhorn and be sure to look it up in Trap & Field in about 3 months. Places around the country are experiencing some winter weather and some models are predicting snow for this area in a few weeks.

The 2022 Nobel Sports Italia Ammo Shoot at the Silver Dollar is in the books. NC shooter Tiffany Decker has been busy and posted a 197 in the singles on Saturday. Only one score higher and that was a 199. Glad to see her shooting well and we will be looking for her on the leader board in upcoming events.

The NCTA shoot calendar has been updated with info from Buccaneer, Watauga and Rockingham County. Still waiting on Buckhorn, Durham County to publish their dates. Hopefully RCGC will be hosting BIG50 events on Thursday possibly starting in February. We will of course send the request to the NCTA and the ATA. If you are interested in Thursday BIG50’s at RCGC let me know.

Pat Childers had shoulder surgery last week and is on the mend. He had surgery on his left shoulder and hopes to be back shooting by the Hall of Fame. Pat is left-handed but shoots right-handed which is interesting. He will be available to run the BIG50 at Buccaneer on the 22nd. He also mentioned that he got a call from a gentleman that recently moved to Wilmington. The gentleman hails from New Mexico and is building a house in Wilmington. He is Joel Schram and a Vet 27-yard shooter. Evidently, he is the former secretary treasurer of the New Mexico State Trapshooting Association. Welcome to NC and hope to see you shooting around NC real soon.

Some sad news out of the ATA with the passing of senior Trap & Field editor Sandy Tidwell. Sandy was with T&F since the early 80’s and her vast knowledge will be greatly missed. Also, Vermont ATA delegate and Trapshooting HOF ambassador Dennis DeVaux passed away in a tragic car accident. Please remember the families in prayer during this time.

Ok folks that is about it for this week and no I have not been hunting for shells. Looks like only Cheddite primers are being sold with Remington and Winchester primers not being released to the public. Going to be interesting here shortly when shooting cranks back up. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Thea and Anne and until next week………….smokem
