August 9th Smoke Report

Greetings and hopefully everyone had a great weekend. That front that dropped all that rain Saturday morning was quite a storm. One shoot over the weekend at Buckhorn and I have nothing to report.

Looks like Durham County shoots this Saturday, and the weather looks pretty good. Only issue is summer heat in the 90’s. Hopefully the power will cooperate and allow them to run the shoot with no power issues.

Grand is underway and it looks like 28 NC shooters have registered for the big show. That number will probably creep up as the week progresses. Kenny Cox has won in two doubles events including D RU in event 3 Little Egypt Golf Cart Doubles with a 93 and D 3rd in event 6 Precision Fit Stock Doubles with a 94. Jack Williams broke a solid 99 in the Kolar Doubles to win SubJr 3rd. Jack also broke his first 100 straight in singles and followed that up with a 99 and is in a carryover to the next singles event.

I have gotten pictures and comments from the Grand including folks are having a great time, the weather is hot and the storm that cancelled the Sunday doubles was pretty bad with quite the lightening show. I even have pictures of folks standing by the Popeye statue in Chester Illinois. I sure would like to be there and hopefully I will be in 2022.

Word on the skreet is that competition shells are slowly making there way into stores. Of course, I have not been looking for shells because I don’t need any currently. Tom Brown alerted me to the fact that Mace Sports in Mebane NC has Fiocchi brand shells in the 1 ounce and 1 1/8 ounce 1250 fps flavor. I put this out on Facebook the other day so please call before you travel if in fact you need some shells.

Here is a link to the scores at the Grand. You can view the scores from the top score down, search for the winners and search for individual shooters in each separate event. Not sure if the numbers are up or not from last year or from 2019? Mash on this link right here – https://scores.shootata.com

Ok that is about it for this week, and I hope you stay cool with the temps we will experience this week. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Thea and Anne and until next week………smokem
