Terry Roush with a bird out Friday.......

Hello and good morning from the Tarheel State. Regardless of where you were the rain was there also. If it wasn't in North Carolina it was in South Carolina. One shoot over the weekend in North Carolina and that was at Coharie. The shoot report should be posted shortly and two shoots in NC this weekend including a BIG50 at Ft. Bragg on the 23rd?. Hard to believe that the 101st Annual North Carolina trapshoot is just a few weeks away.

Watauga will be hosting their first registered event of the 2014 season and sporting a brand spanking new PAT Trap. I ran into Steve Watson and Tom Shelley Sunday morning at the SC State Shoot and they were all excited about this shoot. Evidently BamBam pulled out Sunday morning and didn't have a chance to fill the duo in on all the fun he had at the shoot. Watauga rolls out the red carpet for shooters and if you have never been to the valley go on up this Saturday.

Where do I begin with the South Carolina State Shoot is the question? I personally had a great time and I know JC had a great time also. There was a mix of weather including light rain, heavy rain, light wind, heavy wind, cool temps, warm temps and you name it all occurred at the shoot. Folks managed to put up some great scores regardless and that is to be expected.

I would imagine that the shoot report will be available sometime Monday or Tuesday. NC shooters did well at the shoot and I really do not have a list of all of our trophy winners. I do know that Jeff Galloway broke a 95 in the doubles to take Open RU Sunday and then broke a 96 from the 25.5 to win the Open Handicap Award and had the highest score in/out of state. That is some great shooting and it is good to see a NC native win big in out of state events.

Some of our winners included George Sudderth winning AA doubles Thursday and Pat Childers C doubles, Charlie Brown won B doubles on Friday and also won the singles with a 99, Saturday Pico Martinez won A, Chase Walker won D, Sara Nograsek won Lady I and Charlie Brown won SR Vet. I might have missed a few but that is all I have except for the Sunday doubles and caps....

I enjoyed food and fellowship with Dave and June Daily, Tommy Brown and Lane Murray. The fish fry was a big hit Saturday night and I have live action "Turtle Man" style footage of walking the line getting that fish. I also captured JC laying up around the front of the line because he said he was hungry. I uploaded pictures from Thursday through Sunday to my Photobucket account. As you know I take pictures of squads and folks shooting. I try to capture the shooter with the gun in the air and a whole target visible. I can and have taken shots of actual targets being broken but that can be hard to see in certain backgrounds. SC is tough to get everybody because of the bank setup and varied terrain and that can be a tiring adventure hoofing it up and down the line. If you would like for me to email the picture of you please send me an email or private message on this site and I will get it to you.

I managed to have an ejector on my O/U shoot out into the grass Friday. A gentleman from Indiana found the ejector, JC found the spring and June Daily found the smallest piece of the puzzle on Saturday afternoon. That was amazing because once I told her the area to look in she reached down and picked it right up.....I am going to Harbor Freight and buy a magnet for events like this. Oh, the little doughnut that keeps the ejector from sliding out is still in South Carolina. My Kolar brethren Dave Hollingsworth donated one to the cause and much thanks to him.

Ok......It has been a long 4 days away from home and I am a little tired and back to work......Have a great week and I will post the link to the SC scores as soon as I get it. Also, SC has a new website and I am not exactly sure what the address is but will check on it. Hello to Lou and until next week.............................Smokem
