Don’t look now but here comes the rain to the start of the week. Great weather weekend with only one registered trap shoot on the books. This week features a BIG50 Friday at CCLEOA and a two-day shoot at Buckhorn and a shoot Sunday at Durham County.
CCLEOA shoots Friday and the weather looks great, but it might be a tad windy. Buckhorn hosts a two-day event and normally the program is 100 singles, 100 handicap and 50 pairs of doubles. Sunday the Durham County Wildlife Club hosts a typical 300 target event. I will try to get the BGC program, and I have the CCLEOA info. Scarlett normally posts her program prior to the shoot and a Google doc that people can pre-squad on.
The Rockingham County Gun Club hosted a youth-oriented BIG50 Saturday and had a decent turnout. For about 5 years the shoot was normally held on the first weekend of May but what magically appeared was the SC State and the NCHOF on that date? Well, what can you do but move your date and hope it all works out well. At one time the shoot was under the auspices of SCTP but that is another story all together. Now it is an AIM affiliated event and hopefully the annual event will grow in the future. Maybe the SC State will return to Spartanburg in mid-May and the NCHOF will go back to April in 2026?
22/18/14 stepped to the line and Gage Malone won the singles with a 49 after a shoot off with Cole Steele. VA shooter Matthew Coates won the handicap with a 46 and a shoot off with Jacob Gossett and Clay Price. Greyson Stainback won the doubles with a 48 and the HOA with 139x150. Thanks to all that showed up to participate and to all that helped.
An update from last week on the NCHOF winners. David Smiley won the singles, Tiffany Decker won the doubles, and Jacob Gossett won the handicap and the HOA. Congratulations to the winners!
Dan Johnson has penned another story in Tall Tales & True Stories. Go take a look and he says he has many more stories to come. This installment is about a fellow named “Brad” and that is all I am going to say.
I am into the third month of my “Facebook Jail” sentence and for some odd reason it is has been great. Much more time to do other things and I don’t have to block offensive content that floods my page. I have contemplated setting up another account, but I think I will ride it out.
That is about it for this week and hopefully this rain won’t create any issues for our area. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Will, Mark C, Mark S, Class C Dan, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
