April 1st Smoke Report

Post by smokem »

April 1st is here, and can you believe it? Warm weather and pollen and bugs and trapshoots galore! Yes, it is what you have been waiting for admit it. One event over the weekend and three coming up this week.

Durham County shot Saturday with clear skies and a brisk wind. The event was well attended and the scores good even with the wind. Mark “AA” Spoon and Greg Robinson tied with 98’s in the singles, Marty “CMonBack” Hill won the handicap with a 91 and Jacob Gossett won the doubles with a 92. Mark and Jacob tied for HOA with a 278…. Hats off to her and her crew for a great shoot!

Three shoots this week with a BIG50 at CCLEOA Friday, BIG50 at Charlie Browns Saturday and a typical 300 target program at Buckhorn Sunday. Weather looks cooler for all locations, and it should be great for shooting.

Also, Brushy Mountain VA shoots this Saturday, and the South Carolina Hall of Fame will be held at the Greenville GC this Saturday and Sunday. I guess the Spartanburg Gun club will not hold their monthly shoot due to the HOF in Greeneville.

Just a few weeks until the South Carolina State Shoot and North Carolina Hall of Fame at the NC Homegrounds. Marty Hill is classifying shooters prior to the shoot to speed up the process at the shoot. You can email Marty at mhill76@aol.com to get classified.

John Sandell and his wife are heading North Monday on their way back home. They are doing a key exchange at the gun club in Aynor SC and then heading home. We were going to try to meet up but it didn’t work out on my end. Safe travels and hope to see you soon.

Spent a little time on messenger with Buddy Jensen in California. His little baby boy is on the way and his name will be Fred Allen Jenson III. Congrats on that little bundle of joy. He also has a new job managing a gun club and that would be fun but a lot of work. Not sure how it works in California with shell and component availability. He is going to keep me posted and Buddy is a former NC State Singles and Doubles Champion.

That is it for this week and it starts out hot and gets cooler the rest of the week. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Thea and Anne and until next week……..smokem
