Raining In The Holler

Let’s see if I can find some words for this weekend, Great Time, Rain, Bright Sun, Great Targets, on and on, but the best I can come up with is some fantastic people and friends. I think we had five brave lads to go after the Ironman Marathon, Darvin Cornett (out of retirement), Greg High (who rode up out of the sand hills with his side kick Marty), Walter Mabe, Tom Shelley, and George Sudderth. The rumor on the field of play is the club had to come up with quite a large sum of money to get Darvin to come out of retirement and make it up the mountain. Too Tall Slim (Shelley) had plotted for days on how to get that large silver platter, and they all knew it would be a long, long winter if that was to happen. We just couldn’t have him running around town with that large silver platter hanging around his neck. But then again we do need a replacement for the Brown Mountain Lights. Then instead of being an ole miner with a lantern it would be Too Tall Slim and his necklace.

Scores:
Darvin Cornett 93/89/94/91/95 462
Tom Shelley 84/93/95/86/85 446
George Sudderth 82/84/91/91/92 440
Walter Mabe 93/91/88/82/85 439
Greg High 83/86/80/92/93 434

Now on to the Glenn Memorial, this was our 11th, it is really hard to believe it’s been eleven years doing this. We had a great turn out on Sunday there were 19 shooters on the line for singles. Let’s see about some winners, George (BamBam ) Sudderth worked all day Saturday out of the back of his car. I think he threw everything he had in the back of the car at that Kolar, but all that work must to have paid off. For he came out on Sunday and took singles with a 99 in a driving rain storm. Handicap had two shooters James Tice, and Walter Mabe setting on top with a score of 94. Then in double we had BamBam Sudderth back to the top of the chart with 97.

I happen to know James Shorts. You might not want to antagonize him too much because if/when he does show up, he'll be playing to win.......
I've seen him shoot a target or two as well. Darn near bet he could handle that crowd.

Congrats to the winners!!
Have a Great Day, Dan
