Marathon At The Rock 2011

Lane Murray outlasted all shooters today at the Marathon At The Rock. Only four shooters that included Lane, Danny Lloyd and the Callan's made it through all 500 targets. We also had a crew to shoot 500 handicap targets and Lane wound up shooting 900 registered targets before the sun set in Reidsville.

Addison Callan was the runner-up in the event and wound up winning the last 100 with a 92 in some serious wind. While folks were bundled up against the wind he was sporting a short sleeve shirt and shorts. We enjoyed watching hid dad shoot his brand new gun in dicey conditions.

The wind blew all day and it blew hard and steady. Targets blew vertically sometimes 100 feet and drifted if not broken two traps to the right. I witnessed shooters breaking targets that words cannot describe. Faizi Durland might have the shot of the day and it was on trap 1.

Steve Karas prepared a great meal and it was well received by all who partook of the groceries. He had pasta, salad, desserts and it was all very good. We appreciate his efforts in getting all of the food together. He also got door prizes donated from the Gun Vault in High Point. We ate after the 2nd 100 and gave the wind a chance to die down which didn't happen.

We would like to thank all the folks that helped score, load and run the shoot. We had some first time shooters at the Rock and they were Faizi and David Durland from Charlotte NC. They shot 300 a piece and headed back home and hope to see them at the Rock in the near future.

I am going to post all the score sheets so that I won't have to type out all the scores. I will also post a link to all of the pictures that I took today. One thing to look at is all the variation of clouds that blew by the club today. Targets in the wind in the bright sunshine were bad enough much less the sun popping in and out of the clouds. I did take video of several squads and hope to make that available for folks to enjoy.
