Nothing could be finer than to shoot in North Carolina in November at the Rock. An absolutely beautiful November day with very little wind and nary a cloud in the sky. The temps were chilly (31) at 9AM but it warmed up rather nicely for the caps and the doubles.
We had two gentleman sign up for the ATA including Roland Whiteley and welcome back Don Poush. Also to our surprise All American Blair Surber and Bob Goodman showed up from the state of Virginia. Bob shot great and he commented that he would be back.
Steve Karas provided a nourishing chicken and rice soup and all the fixins. We ran the singles “Buckhorn” style on three traps and the caps on four. Thanks to Larry High for helping tweak the doubles for the event.
Singles – Bob Goodman started out slow and then ran the last 75 for the top score. Blair Surber blew the mothballs off the smokepole to secure the AA spot. Larry High and Charley Rinehart tied for A and carried it over to handicap. Walt Rauch won B, JC Nunn won C with Mel Pempsell winning D. Larry High took Vet and Roland Whitely took Senior Vet. Chase Reese took the Junior spot and we had no lady shooters.
Handicap – Ronnie Maunel is getting back to his old shooting form and will shoot competition handicap from the 23 yard line next time out. He led all shooters with Bob Goodman taking long, Don Kaufman took intermediate, Lane Murray took mid and John Kerns took short. John Woolsey took vet, JC Nunn took senior vet and Chase Reese took junior.
Doubles – Bob Goodman led all doubles shooters and broke a 50 straight on the second trap. Larry High took A, Charley Rinehart took B, Steve Karas took C, Ronnie Manuel took D, JC Nunn took senior vet and Chase Reese took junior.
Ronnie Maunel took the HOA with a 280x300 due to forfeit with Bob Goodman. All in all some great scores were broken today and we appreciate everybody coming out to shoot at the Rock.
We would type out all the scores but I think we will just post all the scores for your viewing pleasure.
