Died: June 06, 2016

Born July 28, 1935 to Gaden O. Corpening and Kathleen Ingle Corpening, Muggs succumbed to dementia on June 6. He graduated from Tryon High School and North Carolina State University. Muggs lived on the Eskdale Farms since 1947 exercising horses which is now F.E.N.C.E. His career in the textile industry covered a period of over 40 years, ending with his own business, Textile Yarns, Inc.

He served in the US Army, retiring from the Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel after 25 years of service and earned the level of sharpshooter. In later years he enjoyed trapshooting, winning medals at various events throughout the country. He also served as a disaster volunteer for the Red Cross in Polk County and was proud to join in the cleanup following the World Trade Center attack in 2001. He also served many in the community.

He is survived by his loyal wife of 59 years, Lila, three sons: Michael of Alpharetta, GA, Gaden (Aline) of Lynn, NC and Bryan (Jennifer) of Saluda, NC. A sister, Melinda Ferguson of Alpharetta, GA and her son Daniel Prout, Jr. (Susan) and their daughter Caroline of Marietta, GA . Two grandchildren: Matthew (Erica) Corpening of Flagler Beach, FL and Monique Corpening of Alpharetta, GA.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
