The day started out on the chilly side, it was low 30ish when we pulled into the parking lot around 8:00 this morning. It stayed on the cool side for singles with a light breeze that played with the targets a little. The wind remained with us for the rest of the day making for a few interesting presentations, especially in the doubles where Randy Jones pulled a couple of "hero" shots out of his rear end. I mean 18"-24" off the ground......

We managed to initiate a couple of the young uns into the world of scorekeeping. As expected, they picked it up quickly and will be able to provide some relief when needed, isn't that right Cooper?

We had shooters from all over the state and Virginia was represented as well. Ted Carwile brought Mark Lester and Hunt Asbury along. They showed well taking some class and yardage group wins.

There were 31 shooters for singles, 28 for caps and 20 for doubles. I've known it would happen before too long that the Juniors would start thumping on the "old folks", Jonathan Rogers took the singles title while holding off some very experienced competitors - Atta Boy!

As usual, if you left hungry it was your own fault. There was spaghetti and garlic bread and Karole brought out the Irish goodies. She handed Jim a platter of cupcakes this morning that was estimated at 47 lbs.......

The Faithfull were out in force and we were wrapped up at 4:00, including John Martin spanking uncle Ted in a singles shoot off.

And that is that. If it had been 20 degrees warmer at the start of the day - it would have been perfect. As it is, it ended up in sunshine and upper 50s - perfect.

The season is about to go into full swing with more clubs on the calendar and more targets in the air. The HOF is on the horizon at the Homegrounds about a month out. The HOF replaced the Dogwood and what a great time of the year to shoot in the mountains, hope to see you there!

Shoot well, travel safe and see you next time wherever it is. Dan
