Buckhorn 8/12/2017

Post by straightaway »

The AIM shooters and their parents treated the Buckhorn crowd to a fish fry dinner today complete with all the fixin's. The young people are sure having an impact on our sport and it's a great thing to see. It's especially fun to watch them reach the initial milestones in their shooting careers 25s, 50s etc.

Jonathan Rogers had a 50 straight today on his way to a 95 in singles and another young man that I'm not sure of his name had a 25 in handicap. This one was comical as we looked out of the clubhouse to trap one and watched him do a "butt shuffle" on post 5 as he broke the last target (he was lead off), then dance his way over to the scorer's chair when the rest of his squad finished up to receive handshakes and congratulations.

Now, the weather was nasty today. Hot. Humid. Yuck. Glasses fogging up, sweat running in your eyes (and everywhere else). The first wave of caps shooters got a drenching downpour during their final trap. It was a multiple shirt day for sure.

We had 23 shoot singles, 20 for caps (wait 'til you see who got punched) and 17 for doubles. Good scores were shot in all 3 events despite the conditions.

As always, the faithful manned the trenches and loaded the houses, loaded the traps, set the targets, classified and squadded everybody, kept score, logged the results into the computer and anything and everything else that needed doing. As you can see, there is a LOT that has to be done to put on a shoot and have it run smoothly. Don't be bashful, I guarantee an offer to help at any of NC's local clubs won't be turned down.......

Tomorrow is another day and we will have at it again. C'mon out and join us for an event or three, you won't be disappointed!

See you next time wherever it is, travel Safe! Dan
