October is about halfway over and cooler temps are hopefully on the way. Saturday felt like October and Sunday showcased the wind. A couple of events over the weekend and the Watauga Chicken Wing Fling is this Saturday in Boone.
Saturday the Rockingham Gun Club held a trapshoot to commemorate ATA National Trapshooting Month. Rough conditions and rain and wind made shooting interesting. Mark Cox won the singles, handicap and doubles and the HOA. Sunday RCGC hosted a BIG50 and the weather was sunny, but the wind was blowing. Mark Cox won the singles, doubles and HOA and Phil Graham won the handicap. Thanks to all that attended and to all that helped out. Rockingham will host a 300 target doubles marathon on November 14th.
The Watauga Gun Clun will host their annual “Chicken Wing Fling” this Saturday. Weather is looking crisp with a high of 61 and 34 for the low. Always a good time in Boone and Pop Waters will be conjuring up some tasty chicken wings for the crowd. Typical 100 singles, handicap and 50 pairs of doubles.
Ok that will do it for this week and hope everyone enjoys this cooler weather. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Barron, Mark C, Mark S, Dan, John W, Jimmy D, SPY2, HGIII, Fish, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
