End of the month and the target year. Does time go faster the older you get? Anyway, there was one shoot over the weekend, and it was held at the Durham County Wildlife Club. Labor Day is upcoming and the next event is at Buckhorn September 5-7.

Durham County shot Saturday and they had a decent turnout with decent weather. 28/17/7 participated and some great scores were broken. Mark AAA Spoon broke the lone 100 to win the singles. Doug Monjeau will shoot from the 26 the next time out after posting a 92 along with the Mason Wilson and handicap Champion. Mark Spoon posted a solid 95 to secure the doubles and also won the HOA with 100+90+95=285x300. Durham shoots next on September the 12th.

I reached out to Jimmy Wilson and here is the program for the Labor Day Buckathon. 100S/100H/50D pair Saturday and Sunday with 100 singles and 50 pairs on Monday. As of Sunday night, the weather looks great all three days with a high of 82 on Monday. Always a good time at BGC and you “might” even see Jimmy back in action after shoulder surgery.

I found out that Mrs. Galloway was in the hospital with an infection in the leg she broke her ankle. No updates as of Sunday night and I hope they get her stabilized and back home. Also, it is hard to believe Jeff Galloway just turned 41 August 21st and it just seems like yesterday when I was hauling him around as a teenager.

The ATA has a neat feature that allows clubs to send out a mass distribution of emails to ATA members. Basically, to announce shoot programs and results. Watauga just used it for their last shoot the Glen Miller Memorial. One ATA email was recently sent out about a shoot at the Brushy Mountain Gun Club in Hurt VA. I reached out to Dennis Fitchner to ask him what was going on? He had no idea why or how an email was sent out regarding the September event. I also called David St. Claire to see if he knew anything and he had no clue either. Dennis had produced a program early in 2026 that outlined a BIG50 schedule and then something happened with the club higher ups and boom the schedule was cancelled. Hate to see clubs regardless of what state they are in ceasing to register targets………sign of the times looks like.

I got a message from and admin at trapshooters.com commenting that I haven’t been on the site lately. I thought it was an automated BOT but lo and behold a real person replied and commented on why I haven’t been on the platform. Trapshoters.com used to be the go-to place and for some it still is and if you want to sell something it is a pretty good source. I normally just post NC Trapshooting 2026 and just add comments to that one thread. Sometimes I get feedback but you just never know.

Sherwood Jenkins is looking for a buyer for his Perazzi and it is a great looking shotgun. It is a top-single with two sets of O/U barrels. Also, there are three triggers in various configurations. He also has Delrin ribs on all the barrels. The gun is in immaculate condition that is for sure.

I heard word that 2026 SC Singles Champion Tom Elbertson had his other eye worked on and I need to check to see how his is doing. Pretty amazing him winning at SC after having major eye surgery 5 weeks prior. Heck, he didn’t even know if he was going to be able to compete and got it done. Kevin Stephens and George Powell had 197’s and that would have been quite a shootoff if Tom had missed one less target.

That is going to do it for this week. Looks like a hot week and then maybe a cool off for the weekend. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Barron, Mark C, Mark S, Dan, John W, Jimmy D, SPY2, HGIII, Fish, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
