July 20th Smoke Report

Here we are in the middle of July, and I hope you are enjoying the heat. With the forest fire smoke drifting across the country the air quality and visibility have been poor. One trap shoot over the weekend at Rockingham and the Southern Zone in Odessa and Berea.
The Watauga Gun Club will host a two-day trapshooting event this weekend. Here is the info Morgan sent me to post. Mark your calendar for our annual Tom Pitts Memorial 2-day shoot July 25-26 at the Watauga Gun Club.
Saturday’s program will be 200 Singles, 100 Handicaps and 50 pair of Doubles. Classification and squadding starts at 8am and shooters take the line at 9am. Sunday’s program will be 100 Singles and 100 Handicaps. Classification starts at 12:00pm and shooters take the line at 1:00pm. Weather looks cooler and a bit moist at times.
The Rockingham Gun Club hosted a 300-target event Saturday, and it was hot. James Fisher won the singles with a 98, Greyson Stainback won the handicap with a 93 and Mark Cox won the doubles with a 96. Great to see some youth on the line with Tyler Cox, Greyson Stainback, Isaac McCoy and Gage Malone all participating. Greyson also won the HOA with 93/93/89 – 275x300 RCGC shoots next on September 19th “Memorial Shoot”
For those of you planning on attending the Grand the shell prices have been posted. Topping the list is the Federal papers at 155 per flat. STS, Nitro, AA’s all about $130 per flat and at the low end of the scale RIO Team shells at $85 per flat. A 3% discount on cash will be offered. Prices include 3% CC fee…
The Southern Zone is in the books with two clubs participating with Berea KY and Odessa FL. Go to www.shootatazone.com for all the scores. Jack Schumpert won the singles with the lone 200 shot in Odessa, Colton Phillips won the doubles with a 99 and a shootoff, Boris Gorinshetyn won the handicap with a 99 and a shootoff. KY youngster Cade Harvey won the HOA 680 and HAA 391. Berea had 169 in attendance and Odessa had 77 for a total of 239. Colson Allen was the only NC shooter in Berea and thanks for representing North Carolina!
Please keep Chris Powell in your prayers. He is experiencing some medical issues currently, and I hope he gets better soon.
