Another great weather weekend in North Carolina and several shoots over the weekend. Three events this week including a CCLEOA BIG50 Friday and Watauga Saturday and Old Hickory Sunday.

Saturday the Rockingham County Gun Club hosted their annual AIM Youth shoot. The weather was great with minimal winds and sunny skies. Singles – Pre-Sub Champ Justin Adcock – RU tie Colton Elliot and Colton Smiley – Sub-Jr Champ Ronan Weary RU Cullen Malone – Jr Gold Champ Gage Malone RU Jake Atwood – Singles Champ Hunter Miller. Handicap Champ Ronan Weary – Pre-Sub Justin Adcock – SubJr Cullen Malone – JrGold Hunter Miller – Doubles Champ Ronan Weary – SubJr Cullen Malone – JrGold Hunter Miller – HOA Ronan Weary. Mark Cox was hi-gun in the singles, caps and doubles and of course HOA. Thanks to all that attended and to all that pitched in and helped.

Buckhorn shot Sunday and it was a nice day and might have been warmer than Saturday. Three 98’s in the singles with Darvin Cornett the winner after reverse draw with Mark Spoon and Doug Monjeau. Darvin Cornett was the top handicap shooter with a 90 and Mark Spoon won the doubles with an 86 with a reverse draw with Joe Nalley. Buckhorn shoots a BIG50 next on May 27th and then on July 4th & 5th.

This Friday CCLEOA will host a BIG50, and the flier has been posted on this site. Saturday Watauga shoots and currently the forecast looks moist. Sunday Old Hickory at Rocky Mount will shoot and the weather currently shows 50% rain. Of course, all of that could change between now and the weekend. If events are cancelled due to inclement weather check back here or the TarHeelTrap Facebook page.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Steve Morgans wife Pat. She fell and broke her hip and was scheduled for surgery. While they were preparing for surgery on Friday, she suddenly became unresponsive. Please keep Steve in your prayers at this time.
Also, ATA Secretary Hunter Galloway had surgery Friday and is recovering at this time. Hopefully he will be back on the line before the NC State Shoot.

Most of you know that Randy Moeller has been hired as the new ATA director after the passing of Lynn Gipson. I had sent him a text prior to his hiring and never heard back from him. Late last week I got a text, and it read “who is this”? I responded that if this is Randy Moeller this is Freddy Redmon. He responded, “it is me” and we exchanged several texts. He mentioned that it had been a busy two weeks, and he wondered who had suggested his name for the job. He sent me a picture of the parking lot and a couple of trap fields and of course he was in Sparta. I suggested they give him a hall pass so he could come down to the NC State Shoot. Not sure if that will happen with all the work leading up to the Grand in August. I know we all wish him well and look forward to seeing him at the Grand in August.

That will do it for this week. Hopefully the area can get some much needed this week. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Barron, Mark C, Mark S, Dan, John W, Jimmy D, SPY2, HGIII, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
