April is here and the thunderstorms and pollen are here also. The cold front that pushed through NC Sunday at least power washed my white vehicle for the time being. The weather pushed most Easter egg hunting inside for the most part.

One shooting event this week and it is a two-day event at the Buckhorn Gun Club near Mebane NC. 100 singles – 100 handicap – 50 pair doubles both days. The weather is looking great both days and if you need targets here is your chance. Always a tasty lunch provided, and a good time had by all.

Just found out that Jimmy Wilson is on the mend after an incident with a shower chair. He suffered 4 facial fractures, possible rotator cuff damage and bruised ribs. He has some follow-up appointments regarding the facial fractures and the shoulder and yes, it is on his right side. This happened at 6:30am last Thursday and yes, he went to work that day…..

Also, John HOF Miller is on the mend after a hamstring tear on one leg and a partial hamstring tear on the other leg. John has some follow-up visits also and hopefully they can get him back to normal. You may wonder how John managed to injure himself like that? No, he wasn’t playing “TWISTER” with Karole, it happened while playing Pickleball. That just leaves Karole, Darvin and Joe Nalley on their squad to shoot.

One shoot over the weekend at it was held at the Rockingham County Gun Club Saturday. The weather was good for the most part and partly cloudy with variable wind from the South. Greg Robinson won the singles with a 49. Mark Cox was on his game and won the handicap and doubles and of course the HOA 48/46/48. RCGC shoots next on May 16th when they will host an AIM Youth Shoot. More information will be available when all details are finalized.

On my way back from the gun club on Saturday, I called George Suddreth to see how he was doing. He said he had been practicing and had picked up a gadget that had been featured by Ricky Marshall. It is called ShotTracker and it attaches to your gun and with an APP it shows where your pattern is in relation to the target. I have included a link to the product so you can read about it and all it has to offer. At less than 1000 bucks it could possibly save you a few bucks getting your gun shooting where you are looking. I will be interested to see how it works after he uses it this Wednesday. www.takeaimtech.com

Trapshooting in the South is getting ready to kick into high gear with Georgia, SC/HOF and then the NC State shoot right around the corner. However with the thought of gas going to $4 bucks gallon folks might think again before heading out. I mean if airlines are considering cancelling flights due to lack of jet fuel things might get interesting.

Keep Steve Morgan in your prayers. He has been having some heart issues and is hoping to get squared away. His ability to get around is a problem and he has been trying to work part-time for a few hours a day. If you have his number give him a ring. Steve and I go back to the days of me refereeing at the Pinehurst Gun Club.

I need some help identifying some old Remington STS shotgun hulls. I have been reloading some old hulls that were probably shot by JC Nunn and he passed in 2014. The hull in question has AA on the hull and I have found others that have two other letters on them also. I have reached out to Jeff Galloway and Might contact Shane Naylor or maybe even Randy Moeller. Just curious as to what it might represent.

All done for this week! Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Barron, Mark C, Mark S, Dan, John W, Jimmy D, SPY2, HGIII, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem

A couple of more shooters to put on your prayer list. Hunter Galloway contacted me Monday morning stating that he had been in the hospital since last week with kidney stones and contracted the Norovirus. Thankfully he was released today on his way home.

Brief call with Dan Johnson Monday and he informed me that now SC shooter Tom Elbertson was in the hospital. His cataract surgery in the past didn't go as planned and he wound up needing a cornea transplant. He will be out of commission for awhile and might miss his SC State Shoot and maybe our NC State Shoot.
