You asked for it and you got it. Cooler weather and pumpkin spice are here and so is the Dixie Grand. Two shooting events last week including a Buckhorn BIG50 on Wednesday and CCLEOA on Friday. Of course, the Dixie starts Tuesday, and the weather is looking great knock on wood.
Buckhorn shot Wednesday and I could not find the scores on SOSClays. CCLEOA shot Friday and Doyle Thigpen won the Singles and Richard Evans won the handicap. Not enough shooters to register the doubles.
The Dixie Grand starts Tuesday, and pre-squad closed on Sunday October the 4th. It looks like attendance will be good and 299 entries for the 2025 singles championship with Mark Cox the winner with the lone 199. All longe range forecasts point to cool weather and dry weather which possibly means minimal precipitation?
Former NC shooter Dan Johnson drove 170 miles and attended the Missouri Fall Handicap last week. He arrived on Thursday and shot Friday through the weekend. He stayed in a little cabin AIRBNB in Roach Missouri, and he said it was an interesting place to stay. They held a non-registered 50 target handicap event after the Saturday singles and Dan had a 46. He is lucky to have a good selection of clubs to shoot at and is helping a two-trap club get back to shooting registered. Linn Creek has been around quite a few years, and Dan said he really enjoyed shooting there. He also commented that there were actually “vendors” on the grounds.
If you are wanting to keep up with the scores at the Dixie you can view www.shootscoreboard.com and also www.sosclays.com. That should do for this week and next week’s smoke report might be delayed due to travel to the Outer Banks. We will just have to see how it works out. Hello to Scott, Ronnie, Cowboy, Tim, Bobby, Phil, Mac, John, Art, Barron, Mark C, Mark S, Dan, John W, Jimmy D, SPY2, HGIII, Fish, Thea and Anne and until next week……smokem
